Meet the neighbours

Lili and her family moved to Whitlam in 2023, drawn by the spacious blocks and community atmosphere. They have enjoyed designing their dream home and taking advantage of the numerous amenities Whitlam offers, including parks, playgrounds and a vibrant community life.

What made you want to move the family to Whitlam?

Well, we used to live in Holt, and I drove past this development that I’ve seen getting built every day from the groundworks up and I thought it would be a really nice place to live.

What was the process like designing your own home?

We designed it with the help of the builder. We knew what we wanted. We wanted areas for our teenage kids to be able to spread their wings and not be in our space all of the time. We wanted to build a house that we could stay in forever.

Was there anything you were worried about?

I think we were a little bit nervous about building in a new suburb because we were worried we’d have a tiny block and not have a backyard. But we haven’t had that experience. We’ve got a veggie garden, enough room for the dog – and the chicken – and a pool!

Whitlam really feels like it’s amongst nature…

Our son loves mountain biking. He’s always on his bike, riding around, taking photos of killer sunsets for his Insta. The kids like walking around the pond. There’s a selection of parks here, too, so they can choose where they want to go. I see so many people enjoying walking around the pond with their dogs. I often walk the dog at night in the evenings, and I feel really safe. Everyone’s friendly and I wave to everybody.
