Sponsorships
In 2024 our Sponsorship Policy was updated along with our application process to make it easier to apply and more equitable.
SLA sponsor a range of organisations, activities and events that align with our vision and strategic priorities as outlined in our Strategic Plan 2024-2027.
- Leadership
- Belonging
- Ambition
- Sustainability
This could include community festivals, events and activities; industry sector awards and events; research; community engagement activities, and more.
Outgoing sponsorship refers to situations where SLA is presented with an opportunity to provide sponsorship.
Incoming sponsorship refers to situations where SLA is presented with an opportunity to receive sponsorship.
How to submit a sponsorship proposal
Outgoing sponsorship requests will be sought early in the calendar year for activities to occur in the upcoming financial year. Applications will be open for a six-week period. Subject to available residual budget, unsolicited proposals may be considered throughout the financial year however we encourage potential applicants to be proactive and seek sponsorship during the formal request period to increase the likelihood of being successful and funding being available.
The application will be required to demonstrate how your organisation is aligned with SLA’s vision and how the opportunity you are seeking sponsorship for aligns with one or more of our strategic priorities as outlined in our Strategic Plan 2024-2027.
The proposal will be required to clearly outline:
- the inclusions and/or benefits of the sponsorship to SLA
- the organisation’s capability, capacity and experience to deliver the opportunity.
Incoming sponsorship requests will be sought via an expression of interest process as required. The advertisement will include details of the opportunity, potential benefits to sponsors, due date for proposals, the format required, the assessment criteria and the selection method.
How we assess proposals
All sponsorship opportunities (both incoming and outgoing) are assessed based on:
- responses to submission criteria
- value: both financial and non-financial
- risk: does not conflict with SLA’s principles, ACT Government’s strategic priorities and existing ACT Government partners
- effectiveness: is a suitable and feasible arrangement
- competency: the organisation/individual is aligned with SLA’s vision as per the SLA Strategic Plan and their financial resources are adequate
- procurement: the proposed sponsorship is value for money
- ICAC principles: the proposed sponsorship recognises the Independent Commission Against Corruption’s (ICAC’s) ‘sponsorship principles’.
All sponsorship proposals are subject to a rigorous assessment and approval process.
