Suburban Land Agency works closely with developers and builders to create sustainable, connected and thriving communities. Learn how the ACT Government releases land for sale and how we're delivering on our ambition to make Canberra the city of choice.
Bespoke relationships drive our success
No single engagement with SLA is ever the same. We create thriving communities using a place-led approach to design and community building. This means different factors drive the direction and requirements of all our developments and land releases. Close stakeholder engagement with developers and builders helps ensure we're creating successful community developments and that we’re fulfilling the vision of the ACT Planning Strategy.

The sales process
We make land available for development by way of auction or tender processes. Our development sites all differ in their nature and desired outcomes, requiring various considerations that factor into whether they’re offered for auction or tender processes.
We can sell commercial, multi-unit, mixed-use, industrial and community sites by tender (either single stage or two stage). When we release land by tender, a Request for Tender will be uploaded onto TendersACT, which will contain instructions on how to submit a tender and how tenders will be evaluated.
Once the tender has closed, we will evaluate the tenders and at the conclusion of that process appoint a preferred tenderer and proceed to enter into a contract for sale of the land.
Indicative Land Release Program (ILRP)
Each year, the ACT Government releases indicative land releases for the next four years. Developers use these as an important tool for long-term planning and to understand the strategy and success of the Government’s planning strategy.
