We are designing a new urban park for the future Lathlain Street Precinct.
Located between Luxton Street and Cohen Street, Lathlain Street Precinct is adjacent to Westfield. Building on the 2021 Belconnen Town Centre Place Design Brief, we will be transforming this area. Imagine safe, active streets, a central public park celebrating our community’s diversity, and a lively hub with homes, shops, dining, and improved active travel options.
Between 25 November 2024 and 6 April 2025, Suburban Land Agency sought input from community and stakeholders to help shape the redevelopment of the future Lathlain Street Precinct public spaces. Building on the community aspirations documented in the 2021 Belconnen Town Centre Place Design Brief, this engagement refined what the community would value most in the public spaces and sought feedback on their look and feel.
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback during this time.
A Listening Report has now been released summarising the key feedback received during the engagement period. We heard positive support for redevelopment of the area and plans for the public spaces. Key feedback themes were safety, landscaping, active travel and recreational opportunities.
We are now preparing for submission of the development application anticipated around the middle of the year. It is expected there will be a public notification period early in the second half of the year. Ahead of this occurring we will share further information about the finalised concept design including the layout of the park and streets. More detailed information, including decisions around colours, textures, signage, art, furniture, park infrastructure and plant specification, will be made in the next phase of design subject to planning approval.
