You might be buying land and preparing to build a new home, choosing a house and land package, or thinking of renovating the home you live in. Whatever the situation, the 'Building a Sustainable Home' workshop series will support you in making your home sustainable.
The 'Building a Sustainable Home' workshop series is a unique offering in Canberra – aiming to give you year-long learning opportunities to ensure you always have access to the information you need, no matter when you start your building or renovating journey.
Hosted by Paul Nagle and Jodie Pipkorn from Commonsense Sustainability Solutions, in collaboration with the Suburban Land Agency, the new monthly workshop series will step you through designing homes that are energy efficient, resilient, comfortable, affordable, and adaptable into the future.
The idea of a sustainable home can seem overwhelming whether you are a first timer or not. Where do you start? How expensive will it be?
Throughout the series, Paul and Jodie will share their wealth of experience and passion in designing and building sustainable homes. Drawing from their own experiences from building an Energy Efficient Demonstration Home in the Suburban Land Agency’s joint venture community of Ginninderry. The house was open for guided tours in 2021-22, when thousands of people went through their doors demonstrating how they achieved a more energy efficient and sustainable home.
The workshop series kicks off on Saturday 22 February at the Suburban Land Agency’s Display Village at Whitlam with ‘Get started on your sustainable home journey’. The workshop will cover what a sustainable home is, the benefits of a sustainable home, and the first steps to get you started on your sustainable building journey.
