Join us for Care, Share, Repair on 1 June and learn how to turn unwanted waste into something wonderful!
There is something for everyone!
Canberra artists Byrd and Dr Hanna Hoyne will dive into the wardrobe and transform the way you see your odd socks and old clothes. Repurpose lost socks with Byrd into crazy creations and bring along your old clothes to get some tips from Hanna on how to transform these into new, ready to wear, fashion!
Tom Buckland will guide you through creating your own bird sculptures with any leftover cardboard you might have lying around the home.
You can bring your own previously loved items, use the old (clean) items supplied by our creatives, artists and makers, or simply pick up some tips during the demonstrations.
You can also learn how to get creative with your food waste. The Canberra Environment Centre will be running their Kung-Food Waste Fighting Workshops. Two forty-five minute workshops jam packed with useful information to keep your body, the environment and your bank account healthy! Bookings essential.
While you’re in the SLA Display Village come and yarn bomb our bike rack, add ‘leaves’ to our lid tree, get playful with ACT Playgroup’s loose parts play, enjoy a picnic or food from our local social enterprise, Heartbeat Café, and tap your toes to the Blue Gumbo Band at the fourth Care, Share, Repair.
This is a waste wise event so we encourage you to bring a keep cup and reusable bag.
