Consultation open on laws related to buying property off-the-plan

The ACT Government is reviewing laws to protect off-the-plan home buyers from unfair contract cancellations.
In 2021, the laws were changed to prevent property developers or sellers from cancelling, or rescinding, off-the-plan contracts unfairly. The Government committed to reviewing the changes after 2 years to make sure that they are working for our community.
Community members who have been involved in buying or selling property off-the-plan are encouraged to provide feedback. If you’re a buyer, seller or someone who has experienced challenges with an off-the-plan property contract, including cancellation or other issues, we want to hear from you.
