The Suburban Land Agency’s tree guide provides practical information about choosing the right tree for your garden. Depending on your house design and location conditions, selecting the right tree to plant in your garden can create shade and privacy, and provide a habitat for birds and bees. 

Trees and greenery are important to our local community, our city’s identity and to keep us cool in a changing climate. Because of this, the ACT Government has set a target of increasing tree canopy coverage across Canberra’s urban area to 30% by 2045. Working together to plant more trees in and around our city means we can achieve this target.
