Getting to know our sustainability rebates
Building energy-efficient, all-electric homes helps you contribute to more resilient, zero-emission neighbourhoods across Canberra.
Whether you design energy-saving solutions when building your home or install them once you’ve moved in, you might be eligible for one of our energy rebates. The Home Energy Rebate Program is available to buyers who purchase land from the Suburban Land Agency in Whitlam and Jacka.
The Suburban Land Agency provides rebates because we know reducing your energy use contributes to a more sustainable future and can save you money.
Where a household uses its energy
- Heating and cooling accounts for 62%
- Water heating accounts for 16%
- Electrical appliances for 15%
- Lighting accounts for 4%
- Cooking accounts for 3%
These figures are based on an ACT household’s average energy use. Adapted from Energy Use in the Australian
Residential Sector 1986 – 2021.
The majority of energy usage in the home comes from systems like air conditioning and heating that ‘condition’ your spaces throughout the home. This is why our eligibility criteria for energy-efficiency rebates include various actions to help take the pressure off these devices.
