Join us for Growing Food in Small Spaces – the first workshop in our 2025 ‘Growing Through the Seasons’ series hosted by Fiona from the Ainslie Urban Farm in collaboration with Suburban Land Agency.
The Growing Food in Small Spaces workshop will teach you all about how to turn your small garden, courtyard, or balcony into a productive garden that can grow delicious, nutritious food.
In this two-hour session, Fiona will teach the basics of growing in small spaces with both theory and practical activities.
You’ll be learning about topics including:
- Planting in sun and shade – how to position plants in your small space
- Choosing the right pot for your plant
- Watering needs for pots, grow bags and raised beds
- Improving potting mixes and rejuvenating garden beds
You’ll get your hands dirty too, with these practical elements:
- You’ll start planning your small garden space – including raised beds pots and grow bags
- You’ll watch a demonstration of improving potting mix and planting seedlings in a grow bag
- You’ll also plant seeds and have a punnet ready to take home and grow for your own
