It’s nearly the shortest day of the year and a great time to be outside embracing the majestic night sky.

Have you ever wanted to gaze into one of the moon’s craters or see Ptolemy’s Cluster?  If so, layer up, grab your beanie and join the Canberra Astronomical Society on Sunday 16 June for a night of fun under the stars. The event kicks off from 5.30pm and finishes at 7.30pm. There will be two sessions of 45 minutes. Highlights include Eta Carina Nebula, Omega Centauri and the Jewel Box.

Enjoy dinner at the Heartbeat Café, which will be offering hot soup for sale and a free hot chocolate.

Event location: Meet at the Heartbeat café, 6 Klaus Moje St, Whitlam. Free parking available.

If it is cloudy or wet the event will be cancelled.
