Lathlain Street Precinct offers opportunity to participate in Belconnen’s transformation.
Belconnen is going through a revitalisation with multiple new developments evolving the town centre into a walkable neighbourhood, leveraging amenity and locality –close to jobs, shops, recreation, and transit hubs.
The Lathlain Precinct sites are in a premium central location opposite Westfield Belconnen Shopping Centre - an area undergoing transformation in line with the Belconnen Town Centre Place Design Brief (2021). The sites will in time, have connection through to Lathlain Street.
The Lathlain Street precinct is marked as part of the Belconnen renewal process which will ultimately deliver a park, tree lined streets, slow traffic zones and alfresco dining and mixed-use development.

Belconnen Village On Walder
A sense of place, an experience where everyone feels at home. This site presents the opportunity to create a mixed-use precinct built for, and designed in collaboration with, community. The site is zoned for a variety of uses, residential, complementary retail, office and restaurants delivering an activated mixed-use development.
This site sold by auction in December 2022.
Belconnen Village On Lathlain
A connected community in the heart of Belconnen. The site offers an opportunity for a developer to create a mixed-use precinct that fosters a sense of connectivity, bringing this vibrant local village to life with extensive walkable connections and waterfront recreation. Fronting Belconnen’s bustling Lathlain street, the site is adjacent to destination food and retail and a short stroll to picturesque lakeside parklands. This site sold by auction in August 2023.
Upcoming releases
Section 21 Block 24 Belconnen
This site is estimated to be released in 2025/26. SLA is undertaking design work for improvements prior to its release, including a new park, verge improvements and a new street connection. The site is zoned CZ2 and will be an opportunity for commercial uses.
Section 185 Block 4 Belconnen
SLA is working with the Planning Authority to release this site in the future.
Place Design Brief
Prepared using individuals' insights and local knowledge, the Belconnen Town Centre Place Design Brief defines community expectations for the development with a focus on great urban experiences. The people of Belconnen recognise that investment must be made into the area, from streetscapes to public place amenity and the built environment.
Design and development of the sites within this Precinct will include more local experiences, more green places, more opportunity for play and walkable connections, and sustainable design. The Place Design Brief identifies how other precincts and sites improve connection to the Lake Ginninderra waterfront.
