Belconnen Precinct on Emu Bank was sold at auction on Thursday 20 August 2026. Core Developments was the successful bidder, securing the site for $18 million. Located on Emu Bank next to Westfield Belconnen, the 18,175m2 precinct will deliver up to 750 new homes, around 4,000m2 of commercial space and quality public spaces.

This significant land release will support the continued growth and revitalisation of Belconnen Town Centre while contributing to the ACT Government's target of enabling 30,000 new homes by 2030.

Development will be guided by the Belconnen Town Centre Place Design Brief, which encourages a more seamless, walkable connection between some of Belconnen’s most frequented destinations and this future precinct. The brief will shape a connected, sustainable urban environment, with a strong emphasis on green spaces, parklands, and lively public areas. This is a precinct that will grow and thrive alongside the locals, well into the future.

The sale also includes requirements to deliver 88 affordable dwellings and 25 public housing dwellings, helping provide more housing options for Canberrans.

Core Developments will now progress the project through planning, design and approval processes, with an opportunity to comment through this process.
