North Wright Sustainable Precinct is setting a new standard in sustainable living with its innovative approach to regenerative landscaping. Developed in collaboration with a First Nations design advisor, this initiative connects homes to the surrounding landscapes, creating a thriving habitat and a space of wellbeing for residents.

Key Features of Regenerative Landscaping:

  • Native Species Integration: The landscaping features a variety of native species, including several indigenous to the Canberra region, which helps to foster rich biodiversity and provide essential resources and shelter for local wildlife.
  • Tree Canopy and Plantings: The precinct has been designed to achieve a 30% tree canopy coverage (at tree maturity), and each block has 30% permeable surfaces with a combination of native grasses, climbing vines, and drought tolerant shrubs and bushes, enhancing the natural environment and promoting climate resilience
  • Biodiversity Enhancement: By incorporating both native and exotic plants, this precinct increases biodiversity, ensuring a balanced and sustainable ecosystem.
  • Seasonal Benefits: An additional 250 trees, including deciduous ones, have been planted to offer seasonal benefits such as shade in summer and sunlight in winter.

This regenerative approach not only restores the environment but also promotes sustainability and builds climate resilience. The thoughtful design creates a harmonious living environment, making this precinct a model for future sustainable developments.

Stay tuned for more updates as this precinct continues to lead the way in sustainable building and living.
