The Suburban Land Agency’s Place Management team has been working in collaboration with Roads ACT and the Justice and Community Safety Directorate over the past 12 months to potentially provide temporary, solar-powered CCTV cameras to Throsby.

The cameras may be placed on existing light poles at the main entries to the suburb for a period of up to two years. The proposed installation of the cameras aims to support the Throsby community with issues such as illegal dumping on new blocks and in open space.

We are letting you know about this proposal before the cameras are installed. It is important to us that this initiative to improve safety and security in Throsby has the support of residents. If you have any concerns about the proposed temporary installation of CCTV cameras at entries to Throsby, please email suburbanland@act.gov.au or call 6205 0600 before 27 November.

The Suburban Land Agency’s Place Management Team plans to install the cameras before the Christmas break if no significant concerns are raised.

How can the community use the cameras if an issue is identified?

If you see something that looks suspicious, please call:

  • Access Canberra on 13 22 81
  • ACT Policing on 131 444 for police assistance or 000 in an emergency
  • Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000

These agencies and authorities will be notified about the security cameras in Throsby and may contact the SLA to follow up if they need further information or footage.
