The stories of some remarkable people who call Canberra home were revealed at the recent ‘Feels like Home’ outdoor movie night.

More than 300 people gathered under the stars on the East Lawns to watch 80s classic The Goonies, as well as the stories of remarkable Canberrans Nipuni Wijewickrema and Mark Sarah.

Nipuni Wijewickrema, or Nip as she is affectionately known, runs GG’s Flowers; a socially sustainable business designed to create employment opportunities for people with special needs.

Mark Sarah is the General Manager of the multi award-winning Cockington Green; an enchanting village of meticulously created miniatures that has fascinated both locals and tourists for decades.

Nipuni and Mark represent the first two episodes of the FEELS LIKE HOME documentary series, with the stories of more extraordinary Canberrans to be revealed over the coming months.

Movie night guests also learnt more about Whitlam, Canberra’s newest community, and watched a manifesto about the meaning of ‘home’.

For those who weren’t lucky enough to win entry to the event on Saturday, you can watch Nip and Mark’s stories, as well as the Whitlam manifesto, on the new Whitlam Our Stories page on our website.

You can also register your interest for the first release of blocks in March 2020. Be one of the first to start planning your new home in Whitlam; the perfect setting for your future life stories.
