Wright – A Convenient and Active Community

Welcome to Molonglo Valley, Canberra’s newest and growing region, nestled conveniently between Weston Creek and Belconnen and just a 15-minute drive or bus trip to Canberra’s CBD.

Wright was the first suburb to be released in Molonglo Valley. This Master planned community embraces the natural environment with the incorporation of wide tree-lined streets and open vistas towards the surrounding valleys.

With a growing community of more than 2,700 (source: ABS, 2016), there’s already so much to enjoy here and even more to look forward to, with future land releases proposed in the northern parts of this community. Find out more about current land releases in Wright.

Local Facilities at Your Doorstep

It’s all about a convenient lifestyle in Wright where the local amenities are a stone’s throw from home and the community in Wright enjoys this convenience first hand! The suburb is an outdoor playground with well-considered open space areas, parks for a variety of ages and an extensive cycle path network which links to broader Canberra.

Development is continuing on the local shops in the nearby suburb of Coombs and children from P-6 attend the suburb’s Charles Weston school. And there will be more to look forward to with a future non-Government school proposed for the northern part of Wright to service this growing community.

Venture a little further afield and visit some of Canberra’s best leisure facilities, all just 5-minutes from home. Whether you’re into exploring, hiking, mountain biking or horse riding, you will be spoilt for choice with the exceptional access to Stromlo Forest Park, the National Arboretum Canberra and the Molonglo River Corridor.

Open Space and Parks in Wright

Link Park is the main park in Wright and includes shelter, fitness equipment and a public BBQ facility. There is also a large landscaped area for residents to enjoy. A boardwalk crosses Link Park and allows easy access from Dot Butler Street to David Fleay Street. Link Park also provides safe pedestrian access from Wright to Coombs under John Gorton Drive to allow children to walk or ride to Charles Weston School in Coombs.

The Section 23 open space includes a play area for younger children, a riding track as well as a climbing gym. The design focuses on the historic use of this area as a training ground for Robert De Castella and other renowned athletes, with a running track incorporated into the park. The park will feature the ‘Deeks Park’ signs which were salvaged after the 2003 bushfires and a large irrigated grassed area.
