Barrer Hill Tree Planting

Barrer Hill, Overlooking the Molonglo River (Entry via the Arboretum)

Nature ignites passion, inspiration, creativity and purpose.

Residents of the Molonglo Valley are invited to join in restoring the native woodland to Barrer Hill in an afternoon of tree planting.

Come and explore a different part of your neighbourhood, meet people from your community over a cuppa and celebrate the end of winter by planting a tree.

Molonglo Rangers will be at the event to chat about the unique natural values of this stretch of the Molonglo River.

Light refreshments will be provided on the day.

There’s no need to commit to the whole two hours, feel free to drop in throughout the afternoon. Please note access is via the National Arboretum. 

Location:

Barrer Hill, overlooking the Molonglo River. Access to the site is via the National Arboretum. More information will be provided to attendees prior to the event.

Garden Club

This month we will have a working bee to start preparing the gardens for sprint planting.

The Garden Club comes together on the first Saturday of every month. This is an opportunity for residents, young and old, in Molonglo Valley to catch up, talk about gardening and learn some gardening tips to take home. There is also the possibility to start up a community garden within the cottage grounds. Please come along and join other local residents at this event. The 2018 Garden Clubs dates are:

  • Saturday 6 October 2018, 10am to 12pm
  • Saturday 3 November 2018, 10am to 12pm
  • Saturday 1 December 2018, 10am to 12pm

Molonglo Valley Eid Fest

Residents of the Molonglo Valley are invited to a day of family, fun & food. Eid Fest has been organised by a group of local residents specifically for residents of the Molonglo Valley. The day will include:

  • Free exotic foods
  • Hot and cold drinks to purchase
  • Henna (mehndi)
  • Tours of emergency services vehicles
  • Childrens activities

Bring along:

  • A gold coin donation
  • A vegetarian plate to share if you like, please list ingredients (no alcohol or nuts)
  • Donations for the St Vincent de Pauls Christmas appeal

Two passionate residents are excited to bring you the third Molonglo Valley Markets. There’ll be coffee, cakes, fresh fruit and veg, hot food, plants, jewellery, crafts and more! Keep up to date with all of the information at https://www.facebook.com/events/2145701665652484/.  

Come on down to enjoy the sunshine and catch up with your neighbours while supporting Bec and Kiran with this great initiative. A gold coin donation at the gate will help to cover this and future events.

Wednesday mornings at the cottage are dedicated to retirees in the area who want to connect with others in their community. Come on down if you think this is for you-and please feel free to let your neighbours know.

The cottage is located on Noffs Crescent in Coombs.
