Previous Strategies
The Government has received a high level of interest, feedback and comments from the community over many years on plans for the Canberra Brickworks.
The timeline below shows the background/investigation studies and community engagement activities undertaken to draft the previous Canberra Brickworks + Environs Planning and Development Strategies.
The Planning and Development Strategies were developed to act as a framework to guide future land use, traffic and transport planning.
2010–2011: Draft Planning Strategy
- Initial planning work including heritage, environment, traffic, transport and infrastructure background studies
- Preparation of a Conservation Management Plan and Site Analysis Report
- 2010 community consultation around a series of options for the site
- Preparation of the Draft Planning Strategy:

2011–2014: Formalised Planning and Development Strategy (2013)
- Internal reviews and approvals
- Additional studies including traffic and transport, remediation and feasibility studies
- Preparation and release of the Canberra Brickworks + Environs Planning and Development Strategy (2013) (PDF 15MB)
- 2014 community consultation on the 2013 Strategy, including review and analysis of all comments and submissions and release of outcomes report.

2015: Revised Planning and Development Strategy (2015)
- Additional studies including traffic and transport
- Preparation and release of the Revised Canberra Brickworks + Environs Planning and Development Strategy (2015)
- 2015 community consultation on the revised 2015 Strategy, including review and analysis of all comments and submissions and release of outcomes report.
