This Mingle event is delivered by the Suburban Land Agency on behalf of the ACT Government and is intended for the Bonner community.


Brumbies Tickets

Want to score tickets to see the ACT Brumbies play the Western Force on Saturday 16 July? Get creative and show us how much of a Brumbies fan you are. This could be with a drawing, video, photo, haiku – surprise us with your creative ways!

Astronomy night

We will be running the Bonner Astronomy Night again on Wednesday 4 May 2016. Hopefully we have better luck with the weather this time!

We hope you can join us for a night under the stars run by the Canberra Astronomical Society. With a new moon making for darker skies and Jupiter rising throughout the evening, the night should be perfect for peering into the sky.

To allow more people to attend we will now be running 2 sessions over the night:

- 6.30pm to 7.10pm (BOOKED OUT)
- 7.15pm to 7.50pm

Due to popular demand both of the sessions are now booked out. We are taking a waiting list in case any places come up, if you would like to join this waiting list please email 


A night under the stars run by the Canberra Astronomical Society. With a new moon making for darker skies and Jupiter rising throughout the evening, the night will be perfect for peering into the sky. 

Due to the cold weather and popular demand we will now run 2 x 1 hour sessions (rather than 1 x 2 hour session) for the Bonner Astronomy Night.

The first session will continue to run at 6.30pm and second will begin at 7.30pm. Both sessions will go for an hour. 

The Neville Bonner P&C will be selling hot chocolate and popcorn - the perfect treat on a cold night! 

The event is free of charge although as it is run by volunteers those wishing to make a gold-coin donation can do so on the night. 

Telescopes will be provided although if you do have one at home please let the Mingle team know via email at 

Bring along a torch and be sure to dress warmly as Canberra’s nights are getting cold!

This event is intended for the Bonner Community.

Gardening Workshop

If you like the idea of growing your own fruit and vegetables come along to this introductory garden workshop run by Canberra City Farm. 

The workshop’s content is flexible but ​will ​mainly ​focus on ​introductory gardening skills, including:

  • the basic approach to organic gardening
  • ​what environment plants require
  • ​a​ demonstration of ​gardening tools and their safe use
  • an ​​introduction to composting​, weeding​ and crop rotation
  • ​a brief discussion about the new verge gardening regulations

Are you putting up lights for Festive Season this year? We are creating a map highlighting the Lights around Molonglo Valley/Bonner! Please email with your street address if you would like your house included on the map.

A finalised map will be posted onto our Facebook page in the 2nd week of December for you to print out and drive/ walk around to look at some of the beautiful lights in your neighbourhood.

Bonner Party at the Shops

Bonner Party at the Shops Thursday 22 October, 3pm

On Thursday 22 October3-6pm, the Parties at the Shops crew brought their good vibes to Bonner, as the local shop keepers and approximately 300 residents put on an afternoon to celebrate one of Canberra’s newest suburbs.

There was face painting and activities for the kids, plus live music by Celie and the Jazz Alchemists, and the Monica Moore duo!




Bonner Community Event

Bonner Mingle - Skills and Drills Day

Over 200 Bonner residents joined us on Saturday 1 August for a fun morning of skills and drills with the Brumbies, face painting, kids activities and a coffee van serving delicious hot drinks to keep us all warm on the fresh Winter morning.

This event also coincided with the final Bonner Community Conversation with Communities@Work. We received some excellent input and ideas on future community activities for Bonner residents. Congratulations to Rachel, who won a signed Brumbies jersey for her suggestion of having local artists read stories to children and for some activities to be run that includes children and their parents. We hope you love the jersey!

Bonner Community Conversations

The final Community Conversation with Communities@Work happened on Saturday 1 August during the Bonner and Brumbies Community event. Your input and ideas are currently being reviewed by Communities@Work and the ACT Government. Watch this space for an update on future activities that come out of the feedback received at these events!

Bonner Twilight Movie Night!

Bonner movie night minionsOver 400 Bonner residents joined us on Bonner Oval for the Bonner Twilight Movie Night on Sunday 12 April 2015. Thanks to everyone who attended and for your support of the fundraising for Neville Bonner Primary P&C and Friends of Mulligans Flat.

Parents and kids of all ages enjoyed live entertainment, games, face painting and a delicious range of food before settling down with popcorn in front of the 8 meter BIG screen to watch ‘Despicable Me 2’.

To top it off our own Bonner Minions were roving at the event with these cheeky characters proving to be star attractions.

Thanks to Dendy Cinema Canberra for providing prizes for the event.


Clean up Australia Day - 1 March 2015

Clean up Australia DayA huge thank you to residents who gave up their Sunday morning on 1 March 2015 to collect rubbish around the Bonner Oval precinct as part of Cleanup Australia Day! Congratulations to Bonner resident Caroline for organising this successful activity. Twelve huge bags of rubbish were removed from Bonner’s open spaces. 

We hope to make this an annual activity in Bonner and look forward to your involvement in 2016. In the meantime if you have any concerns regarding rubbish in public spaces please lodge a request through the 'Fix My Street' service offered by TAMS.

'Jump into Fitness' - Feb/Mar 2015

Expression of Interest - Mingle Group Fitness Classes (Feb/March 2015)
Mingle is excited to introduce ‘Jump into Fitness’ for residents of Bonner!
If you are interested in having some fitness fun and would like to register your interest for the 5 week ‘Jump into Fitness’ classes, please email or call 6205 0174 by Wednesday 18 February 2015 and indicate your time preference:
Option 1: 10:30am – 11:30am Saturdays 
Option 2: 4:30pm – 5:30pm Saturdays
Assuming this activity is supported by residents, Mingle is offering the first session for FREE! This free ‘try out’ session will be held on Saturday 28 February 2015 to enable you to meet the qualified fitness Instructor from locally based Body Wisdom 
( and try out a range of fun outdoor exercises at your own pace.
You can decide to register for a further 4 week fitness program on Saturdays starting Saturday 7 March with costs subsidised 50% by the LDA.
Commit to all 4 weeks - pay only $40.00 (paid in advance)
Pay as you go casual Saturday sessions - $12.00 each
Location: The group will meet at Bonner Oval but activities might take place in other spaces around Bonner
What to bring: Comfortable sports attire, a towel, water bottle, hat and sunscreen.
To enable these ‘Jump into Fitness’ sessions to proceed we must get enough people registered by Wednesday 18 February. Make sure you get in touch – limited places available!

Jump into Fitness Classes

The ACT Government's Mingle Community Development Program introduced ‘Jump into Fitness’ classes for residents of Bonner in February 2015.

The 5 week program was delivered by qualified Fitness Instructor Sue Dowling from Body Wisdom
( who is also a Bonner resident.

Participants had their fitness levels assessed at the first session to enable Sue to tailor the program to best meet individual needs. A range of fun and challenging outdoor exercises were offered across the 5 classes and feedback was very positive.

Classes continue to be offered by Sue at 10:30am on Saturdays at Bonner Oval at a cost of $20 per person (current at 5 May 2015). These classes are not subsidised by Mingle. To participate please contact Sue directly by phoning 0408 231 167 or email . Updates will be posted on the Bonner Mingle Facebook Page. If you intend participating please wear comfortable sports attire, hat, sunscreen and bring a water bottle.

Mingle Culinary Workshop – 30 October 2014

Culinary Workshop

Thanks to everyone who attended the inaugural Bonner Mingle Culinary Workshop on 30 October 2014. The enthusiastic group had a great time creating a range of interesting and healthy dishes, and learnt some handy hints from CIT's awesome Chef Natalie!

Thanks also to Neville Bonner Primary School for the use of their fantastic student cooking facilities. The evening concluded with a feast while residents also had the chance to chat to each other and ask questions of Chef Natalie. Based on the success of this workshop we’ll be sure to roll out more in 2015 - keep your eye out for the next one!


Introduction to Energy Efficiency – Thursday 6 November 2014

Due to a low response the Energy Efficiency Workshop planned for Thursday 6 November was cancelled, however we will look at running a workshop in 2015. We apologise for any inconvenience this cancellation might have caused and hope to see you at another Mingle activity in the future.

Bonner Party at the Shops 2014

Bonner party at the shops 2014Thanks to the Bonner community and local shops for coming out to celebrate Canberra’s 101st birthday with a Party at the Shops on Wednesday 12 March.

Over 300 locals attended the event which was run as part of the ACT Government’s Bonner Mingle program. Special guest Christian Lealiifano from the Brumbies was a hit, signing autographs and posing for photos.

Live music was supplied by local artist Special K and Bonner Woolworths held a fundraising BBQ raising money for Variety the Children’s Charity. The Gecko Gang were run off their feet with face painting and balloon modelling for the kids.
