Conclusion of the Bonner Mingle program

Following more than five fun-filled years of events and activities in Bonner, the Mingle Community Development program has now officially concluded. The Mingle team have enjoyed their time in Bonner, getting to know residents and working alongside of you as you developed. The Mingle program provided opportunities through activities, and events to bring new residents together, to become involved in community life, but most importantly to build greater connection as a community.

We hope the events and activities that have been delivered throughout the program have enabled you to meet your neighbours and make new long lasting friendships. We encourage you to continue to connect and develop as a community, and to take advantage of the facilities provided for you in the suburb of Bonner.

As many of you may be aware a small group of Bonner residents have set up a ‘Bonner Community’ Facebook page, which is designed to help you connect with others in your community. It’s a place where residents can share local events, ideas, and notices online. Be sure to follow to the Bonner Community page at

In the early stages of the Mingle program the Suburban Land Agency installed a community noticeboard, which is located outside of the Neville Bonner School (opposite the shops). This noticeboard now belongs to the community and will be available for all residents to use, for promotion of local activities, events, notices and small businesses. A key for the noticeboard is available at the Neville Bonner School (reception) and the Bonner residents group are also working with the local shops to arrange a second key collection point.

Updates regarding the key will be posted on the residents Facebook page, so we encourage you to check the page for these details, or to contact the residents group via the page if you need assistance. The group would also love to hear from you if you’d like to get more actively involved in your community.

The Mingle team would like to thank those of you who were able to contribute to the Mingle program and the Bonner community over the past five years. It was our great pleasure getting to know you, and we wish you all the very best as your community continues to grow.

Resident survey:

Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill in the final survey for the Bonner mingle program. Your input was very valuable and will help us evaluate the program. We received 41 responses. Here is a summary of some results:

  • 85% of respondents feel that Bonner is a safe place to live.
  • 80% of respondents feel that Bonner is a quiet and peaceful place to live.
  • 70% of respondents said would recommend Bonner as a place to live to family and friends.

Mingle activities

  • 40% of respondents attended the party at the shops event.
  • 60% of respondents attended the flavours of Bonner Multicultural Fair. Many respondents commented that this event was one of their favourites.
  • 70% of respondents said they were satisfied with the community development event and activities.
  • 62% of respondents felt that Mingle helped connect them to others in the community.

The Mingle newsletter and the Bonner resident’s Facebook page was how you heard about what was going on.

Moving forward
Over 54% of respondents mentioned that they would be interested in volunteering in the community, helping out between 1-4 hours a month.

As part of the survey, residents were invited to share “Can you describe a particular moment or situation, when living in Bonner, that really make you feel part of the community?”. We were delighted to hear these responses and the following entry received a prize:

“Going to the multicultural festival and putting my daughters hand print on the garden bed at the school.” – Belinda C
