Book Box LaunchMolonglo Valley Book Box

Woodberry Avenue Coombs (near Toner Street)

The Molonglo Valley book box works as a free book exchange where the community can come together to meet, and share books. Residents are invited to pick up a book (or two or three) to take home and enjoy, or to place any books they would like to share with their community. The book box is designed to be used by all ages, so it is important that any books shared are appropriate.

The book box was initiated by a resident as part of the Mingle program and was delivered in partnership with students at Charles Weston School, the ACT Woodcraft Guild and Communities@Work.

The box structure was made by the ACT Woodcraft Guild, who assembled the box at Charles Weston School with the help of students. It was then decorated using images selected through a design competition at the school. A student vote determined four designs that were incorporated in the box’s final decoration.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the book box please email mingle@commsatwork.org

We hope you enjoy your new community book box!

Molonglo Valley Giving Initiative

Gift Giving

Residents of the Wright and Coombs have been working together to support Canberrans in need. The community have had the opportunity to donate non perishable items at the recent Eid Fest and Twilight Movie Night and so far over 160 items have been donated! All items will go to St Vincent de Pauls to be given to those who need it most.

There will be more opportunities to donate between now and Christmas with donations being collected at the Community Information Night (Nov) and the Christmas Carols event (Dec).

“Happiness doesn't result from what we get, but from what we give.”
