Coombs Molonglo Valley

Coombs Stormwater Management Strategy

The stormwater management strategy for Coombs includes the maintenance of water quality controls on the stormwater drains that flow from the development into the Molonglo River.

The strategy is a two stage process which includes temporary ponds within the Coombs Estate which are being maintained until a substantial number of houses in the area have been constructed.

Once a substantial number of houses have been completed, each adjacent temporary pond will be removed and the stormwater flows will be diverted to a permanent below ground system.

The permanent stormwater treatment process includes a series of small rain gardens that will further filter the stormwater before it enters the Molonglo River. These rain gardens will also add to the future landscape setting of Coombs and contribute to supporting a diverse range of native flora and fauna.

Please do not enter or swim in the fenced ponds.  If you see any inappropriate behaviour or vandalism of the fencing in the vicinity of the pond, please contact the LDA immediately on 6205 0600.
