Affordable Home Purchase Scheme - Helping you buy your first home

The Affordable Home Purchase Scheme provides a pathway to home ownership. It's for households with low-to-moderate incomes and are ready to buy their first home.

What the scheme provides

In the ACT, developers must sell some affordable homes to people that we assess as eligible. These homes include apartments, terraces and townhouses.

As more releases happen over the coming years, more affordable homes will become available. More than 400 eligible buyers have already bought their homes through this scheme.

Watch the following video for an overview of how it works. Then continue reading to learn if the Affordable Home Purchase Scheme is right for you.

How to get involved

Places with affordable homes

In recent years, we’ve sold land with affordable housing requirements to developers in areas including the Belconnen, Woden and Gungahlin Town Centres, as well as suburbs like Whitlam.

As these developers progress with development approvals over the next few years, we'll announce specific offerings to our mailing list.

"It’s the only way I was able to get into the property market. As a single woman it means I am significantly more financially stable and no longer have the stress of trying to rent in Canberra.”
